Apple is preparing to release the iOS 26 public beta this month, offering a wider audience access to its upcoming mobile software. After weeks of developer previews, the public beta is expected to arrive by mid-July.
The developer version provided early insights into Apple’s new iOS iteration, notably the redesigned interface dubbed "Liquid Glass." While developer builds are typically unstable and contain bugs, the public beta aims to be more refined and closer to the final version scheduled for later this year.
Apple usually rolls out public betas in early July, but this time the update is slightly delayed. Sources indicate the iOS 26 public beta will be released around mid-July. Users interested in testing the new update can enroll through Apple’s official beta program.
Apple has confirmed that the iOS 26 beta will support devices from the iPhone 11 series onward. Older models such as the iPhone Xs and Xr are not eligible and will remain on iOS 25. The following models are compatible with iOS 26:
* iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max
* iPhone 12, 12 Mini, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max
* iPhone 13, 13 Mini, 13 Pro, 13 Pro Max
* iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro, 14 Pro Max
* iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max
* iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max
The new version includes UI improvements addressing previous criticisms. Apple has refined the Liquid Glass look, reducing overlapping elements and enhancing overall readability. Additionally, a new system ringtone named "Alt 1" will be available. Users can change their call tone by navigating to Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Ringtone.
As testing continues, more features are expected to emerge in subsequent beta releases. For now, Apple is focused on polishing the current build and preparing it for a broader rollout.
